Superior Elementary offers a content-rich curriculum that addresses all District and Common Core State standards. Our goal is to set high academic standards for learning and create dynamic learning environments where students explore and investigate using critical thinking skills. Highlights of this curriculum include a spiraling social studies curriculum with engaging topics through which children learn American and world history, geography, and the study of many cultures. Science topics are reinforced through hands-on activities, experiments and observations. A comprehensive language arts curriculum enhances and extends across all subject areas. We have exceptional programs in physical education, music and art. Choirs, clubs, intramural sports and enrichment classes extend the school day. Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support program unites the school around the words of respect, acceptance and responsibility. The latest in media and technology are available throughout the school–televised morning announcements, iPads, chrome books, internet research and a wireless building add to rich integration of technology into the curriculum.

Interested in visiting Superior Elementary with your therapy dog?

Superior Elementary School is a vetted facility working closely with Therapy Dogs Boulder County to bring some wonderful dog therapy to children who greatly appreciate the interaction on a daily basis.  This Therapy Dog program is a totally volunteer program and operates with team visits during week days and special events.

All teams (a team is a handler and dog) are signed up on a regular visiting schedule.

The monthly frequency of visits are:

  • 1st, 3rd and 5th weeks on same day
  • 2nd and 4th weeks on same day
  • Every Week on same day

All teams are required to take a schedule available to them using the above choices.  There are no floating schedules or visitations.  All teams are part of a group email list so they can communicate absences and emergency coverage.  A monthly schedule is created and sent to all teams and administration just before the beginning of each new month.

Requirements for therapy dog teams:

  1. Therapy Dog Registration:  All teams must be registered with a therapy dog association.  The accepted registration memberships are:

– Alliance of Therapy Dogs (www.therapydogs.com)
– PetPartners(www.petpartners.org

If you are not presently registered with any association, there are several tester/observers for Alliance of Therapy Dogs inside of our Therapy Dogs Boulder County group who can help get you started on that process.  Use the “contact us” selection from the main menu and let us know you would like to be tested with your dog.

2.  A copy of proof regarding your dog is current on the Rabies Vaccination.  A vet record is acceptable.

3.  A copy of proof showing your dog was fecal tested and the test was negative within the last 12 months.
