Welcome to the AltaVita Memory Care Centre<\/span><\/h3>\n

Therapy Dog Program<\/span><\/h3>\n

800 South Fordham Street, Longmont, CO<\/h4>\n

AltaVita is a vetted facility<\/a> working closely with Therapy Dogs Boulder County to bring some wonderful dog therapy to residents who greatly appreciate the interaction on a daily basis.\u00a0 The AltaVita Therapy Dog program is a totally volunteer<\/strong> program and operates with team visits 7 days per week.\u00a0 Most days have 2 teams per day in the mornings and afternoons.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are usually 20+ teams (a team is a handler and dog) signed up on a regular visiting schedule.\u00a0 The team choices for visit scheduling are:<\/span><\/p>\n

– Once each week, same day\/time<\/span>
\n– 2nd & 4th weeks of the month, same day\/time<\/span>
\n– 1st, 3rd & 5th weeks of the month, same day\/time<\/span><\/p>\n

All teams are required to take a schedule available to them using the above choices.\u00a0 There are no floating schedules or visitations.\u00a0 All teams are part of a group email list so they can communicate absences and emergency coverage.\u00a0 A monthly schedule is created and sent to all teams and administration\u00a0just before the beginning of each new month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Therapy Dog Registration:\u00a0 All teams must be registered with a therapy dog association.\u00a0 The accepted registration memberships are:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/span>\u2013 Alliance of Therapy Dogs (www.therapydogs.com<\/u><\/a>)<\/span>
    \n\u2013 PetPartners(    www.petpartners.org
    \n<\/u><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

    If you are not presently registered with any association, there are several tester\/observers for Alliance of Therapy Dogs inside of our Therapy Dogs Boulder County group who can help get you started on that process.\u00a0 Use the “contact us” selection from the\u00a0main menu and let us know you would like to be tested with your dog.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2.\u00a0 A copy of proof regarding\u00a0your dog is current on the Rabies Vaccination.\u00a0 A vet record is\u00a0acceptable.<\/span><\/p>\n

    3.\u00a0\u00a0A copy of proof\u00a0showing your dog was\u00a0fecal tested and the test was negative within the last 12 months.<\/span><\/p>\n
